The Wellington literary scene
Tertulia
Tertulia is a key part of Wellington's literary scene. From poetry to journalism, Tertulians cover the full spectrum of literary activity. It's an informal weekly gathering aimed at keeping writers in
touch with each other. You never know what will happen at Tertulia - anything from readings and workshops to arguments about anything, including politics and religion. The only rule is that we respect each other's point of view .
The idea of Tertulia came from Puri Alvarez, a Spanish poet and photographer based in Pukerua
Bay. European artists meet regularly in cafes or bars for discussions, arguments, chess, or to share their work. The original core group came from Writers International, the writing group behind
World Words.
If you are a writer and you're in Wellington, temporarily or
permanently, we'd love to see you.
