Welcome

I am a freelance journalist, editor, scientific writer, and web writer, based in Wellington, NZ.

I am currently working on a book about how New Zealand can build a carbon-neutral transport system. This will be a practical book for practical people. NZ's economy runs on diesel. If you're involved in transport, or if you depend on diesel to make your living, I'd like to hear from you. You can email me at Kevin Cudby's email

Biofuels are beginning to appear in the mainstream NZ fuel market. I've been researching and writing about biofuels since 2004, and I'm convinced that some biofuels offer a legitimate technological solution to transport-related global warming. I am mainly interested in heavy transport: trucks, boats, and aircraft, which is why this site is the best resource for NZ biodiesel users. The so-called second-generation biofuels will take us closer to a truly carbon-neutral economy. The good news is that the best ones favour diesel engines and gas turbines (which are used in most aircraft), and they don't affect food production. But since biodiesel is here now, it's well worth supportingprovided the manufacturers maintain proper fuel quality.

My latest novel is doing the rounds of publishers and agents. It's a sensual and irreverent take on the human capacity to evolve and prosper. I may even do the first print run myself. If you've heard my podcast and want to see The Truth about the Shiners in print, email me at Kevin Cudby's email

Recently I collaborated with Dr. Tatjana Schaefer(managing editor), Catherine Boyle, and publisher Mark Pirie on World Words—an anthology of international writers in New Zealand. This beautiful and unique book is available from Academy Books; Kwanzaa, the African Shop in Wellingon’s Manners Street; or Unity Books in Willis Street, Wellington. Mark’s HeadworX website has a detailed description.
